Below is a list of license applications and the requirements for obtaining them:
Auction – License to Conduct an Auction:
Auctions may be conducted in the City of Jamestown with the Proper Approval & Completion of the Application.

Dog License:
All dogs must be licensed by the age of four months. Proof of current rabies vaccination and, if applicable, the spay/neuter certificate must be presented at the time of licensing.
Fees:

Spayed/Neutered: $15.00 per dog annually

Unspayed/Unneutered: $22.00 per dog annually
Electrician’s Examination – Class 1/ Class 2:
Requirements:

Application must be on file for (14) days prior to examination.

After successfully passing the exam, a Class 1 License is $325, or $340 if late fee is applicable. A Class 2 License is $125, or $140 if late fee is applicable.
Each license requires a passport-size ID photo, which may be obtained in the Clerk’s Office for $15.00.
Hawkers, Peddlers & Solicitors License:
All hawkers, peddlers, and solicitors must be licensed and fall under the laws and provisions of the City of Jamestown.

Cash bond or surety bond of $5,000 may be necessary in some cases.
Marriage License:
In order to be married in the State of New York, a marriage license is required and must be applied for at least 24 hours prior to the wedding. This must be done no more than 60 days in advance. The marriage license must be used within the State of New York.

Pawn Broker, Second Hand Dealer & Junk Dealers also require a state license and a surety bond of $10,000.
Registration of Business:
A registration of business is required under the Code of the City of Jamestown for any business operating within the city. This is NOT the same as a Business License, which must be obtained through the Chautauqua County Clerk’s Office. A registration of business includes vital public safety information in case of emergency at the business being registered.

Solid Waste Hauler Vehicle License:
Requirements:

Fees: $200 plus $50 per vehicle.

If planning to collect solid waste from the city’s right-of-way, a certificate of insurance naming the City of Jamestown as loss payee and as an additional insured must accompany the application. The certificate must be in a form acceptable to the City of Jamestown’s Corporation Counsel. The minimum amount of coverage must be $100,000 per single occurrence and $300,000 per multiple occurrences.
Taxicab Driver’s License:
All persons wishing to become a licensed taxicab driver in the City of Jamestown must obtain this license in addition to a valid Class E or higher New York State Driver’s License.

Taxicab Vehicle License:
All taxicab vehicles in the City of Jamestown must be licensed independently of their drivers.

Taxi Rate Card:
A taxi rate card must be displayed in properly licensed taxi cab vehicles where the card can be easily seen by customers at all times.
Requirements:
- Any change in rates must be approved by the Public Safety Committee.
Tower Vehicle License:
Any vehicle used to provide towing service must be licensed. The license must be displayed in the towing vehicle where it can be easily seen at all times by customers.
Requirements:
- Fee: $250, $50 each additional vehicle.
911 Towing Rate Card:
Anyone providing emergency towing service through 911 dispatch must have a 911 towing rate card displayed in the towing vehicle where it can be easily seen at all times by customers.
Requirements:
- Any change in rates must be approved by the Public Safety Committee.
