Urban Forestry Fund

The Chautauqua Region Community Foundation hosts the Urban Forestry Fund, established in 1992 to finance the yearly purchase of trees for planting along Jamestown’s streets and in its parks. Since its inception, the fund has grown substantially, reaching a market value of nearly $12,000. Grants from the Urban Forestry Fund to the Parks Department for tree purchases now exceed $3,000.

Trees are integral to our community’s well-being, serving as living symbols of our city’s health and vitality. Planting a tree signifies faith, optimism, and a dedication to the future.

Jamestown has implemented a comprehensive tree care plan, identifying maintenance needs for thousands of existing trees while also pinpointing numerous vacant sites ideal for future tree planting—the foundation of our urban forest.

You can play a role in ensuring Jamestown’s 21st-century landscape boasts a healthy urban forest through this program. Your contribution to the Urban Forestry Fund, managed and invested by the Chautauqua Region Community Foundation, will perpetually support tree planting efforts in Jamestown’s streets and parks. This enduring fund ensures your gift continues to enrich our city, making it greener and more beautiful for generations to come.

Donations of any amount are welcomed, with various acknowledgment levels available. Contributions of $30 or more will be recognized with an engraved tag on the “Friends of the Forest” honor roll. Larger gifts of $125 or above can choose a personalized large gold leaf, while a smaller leaf is available for $75. Donors contributing $500 or more will be commemorated with an engraved patron’s tablet near a tree.

Interested individuals can learn more by visiting the lobby display at City Hall, contacting the Chautauqua Region Community Foundation, or reaching out to the Parks Department directly at (716) 483-7523. Join us in growing and preserving Jamestown’s urban forest for generations to come.

Online donations can be made conveniently via the Chautauqua Region Community Foundation (CRCF) website.
