Effective July 26, 2021:
A LOCAL LAW AMENDING THE CITY CHARTER TO EFFECTUATE A CHANGE IN REBATE RATES FOR SIDEWALK REPAIRS
BY COUNCILMAN RUSSELL: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED, by the City Council of the City of Jamestown, New York as follows:
Section 1. §C-62B of the Charter of the City of Jamestown is amended to read “Upon successful completion of sidewalk repair work and approval by the Director of Public Works and/or his or her designee, the property owner shall be reimbursed $3 per square foot as a materials rebate for any and all newly installed sidewalk blocks.”
Section 2. If any clause, sentence, paragraph, section or part of this Local Law shall be adjudged by any Court of competent jurisdiction to be invalid, such judgment shall not affect, impair or invalidate the remainder therefor, but shall be confined to its operation in said clause, sentence, paragraph, section, or part of this Local Law.
Section 3. Effective Date. This Local Law shall become effective immediately in accordance with Municipal Home Rule Law.
A safe and clean sidewalk is the responsibility of the property owner. If you are a property owner and in need of repairing or replacing damaged, unsightly, or unsafe sidewalk blocks that abut your parcel, the City of Jamestown operates a rebate program to support your efforts to fulfill that responsibility and being a good neighbor.
