Reports of Committees and Projects
Riverwalk/Parks Commission Update: Julia said the digging has begun at McCrea Point Park for the concrete pad where the kayak launch. The new launch should be installed in the next week or as soon as the concrete is cured. She said the kayak launch will be handicap-accessible.
The Chautauqua Belle has done some late season runs out of McCrea. They had 3 sold-out trips last Saturday because the ticket prices were dropped to $10 a person. Julia heard from people who had been on the trips and they said that Paul Stage was very complimentary of City Government and the help provided to make the endeavor possible.
Bank Restabilization: Julia said Dan Stone reported out the following on the project to the Parks Commission last week: Rip rap work was done last year and they will be doing more plantings to help with erosion. They will be getting rid of poison ivy and dealing with drainage issues. The Riverwalk path will remain the same with maybe more porous pavers. We’re waiting to hear when the county can get in to do work. He’s hoping we can get started with the plantings in the Spring. Dan said people will still have access to the river’s edge for fishing. They’re also looking at habitat areas for turtles and shade options for fish. He said it’s a very detailed project.
