City Council Statement on Trick-Or-Treating
Jamestown City Council President Anthony Dolce, on behalf of City Council, has announced that Council will not be sanctioning Trick-or-Treating in the City of Jamestown for 2020.
Following Governor Cuomo’s recent statements, President Anthony Dolce announced that the city is not banning trick-or-treating, however, the City Council will not set hours for this activity and also wants to discourage holding large social gatherings. President Dolce, on behalf of City Council and in light of the continued pandemic, is not encouraging parents to take children door-to-door, but the decision will be left up to parents to determine the appropriateness and safety of any Halloween activities this year.
“We urge residents to continue to use safe practices when interacting with other people including wearing face coverings and social distancing at least six-feet. We also encourage parents to understand and respect the wishes of residents who do not feel comfortable answering doors.” Dolce added that residents should turn their front lights off if they do not wish to participate in trick-or-treating.
The New York State guidelines for gatherings only allow for up to 50 people with six-feet of social distancing and face coverings required.

With the addition of COVID-19 making large gatherings difficult, and a large financial strain on the City from lost revenue, the City will not be holding a Halloween Fun Fest for 2020. We hope to bring this event back in 2021.
