The City of Jamestown will receive a special allocation of Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds to be used to prevent, prepare for, and respond to the coronavirus (COVID-19). This allocation has been authorized by the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES Act), Public Law 116-136, which was signed by President Trump on March 27, 2020, to respond to the growing effects of this historic public health crisis. Given the immediate needs faced by communities across the country, the Department has announced the first allocation of funds with a local allocation of $704,881.
Small Business Assistance
We know that small businesses like yours across the country are confronting extreme economic challenges due to the Covid-19 pandemic. We believe our Small Businesses are the backbone of our local economies, providing essential goods, services, and jobs. The City of Jamestown Department of Development will begin accepting applications for the Small Business Relief Grant Program which will provide financial assistance to small businesses economically impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. This program offers eligible small businesses grants of up to $20,000 . The application window opens June 23, 2020 and all businesses are encouraged to apply as soon as possible as grant funds are limited.

Tenant Assistance
In this time of crisis, residents nationwide are suffering enormous impacts related to COVID-19. The City of Jamestown Department of Development is coordinating an effort to provide $300,000 in federal CDBG funds for relief while assessing the economic impacts related to COVID-19 on Jamestown’s most vulnerable residents. To help Jamestown renters and their families having difficulty paying rent as a result of COVID-19, the City will provide up to $1,500 to households who meet low-moderate income levels to help with housing costs.
This grant aims to help Jamestown residents who have experienced loss of income due to decreases in regular working hours, or being laid-off or furloughed, etc. This emergency fund will provide up to One Thousand Five Hundred Dollars ($1,500) to qualifying residents.
